Sybil x Harper Puppies Have Arrived! We are so excited to announce the arrival of our Sybil x Harper litter, naturally whelped, in the early morning of Labor Day, 9-7-20! Mom and all 6 (!) of her girls are doing well. All puppies are very conservatively and traditionally marked, all weighing between 17oz and 19oz at birth, and all ate vigorously from mom within 15 minutes of being born. Sybil is taking to motherhood like she was born for it.
In honor of the passing of Chadwick Boseman, the actor who recently passed away from cancer and who also played the Black Panther, this litter will be “The Black Panther” theme, with registered names deriving from quotes from the movie. Thanks to Jessica, owner of Gulliver from our Zuko x Pearl litter, for your assistance and company during a very long whelping process this weekend (thank you Adam, Grace, & Gully for letting us ‘borrow’ her). Thank you also to Jenny Bauer of Cornerstone GSMD for your presence, company, & support during the laboring process. Thank you also to Brittany Shumack, DVM, of Village Center Veterinary Care in Colorado Springs for your advice and support throughout the process of breeding, pregnancy, & whelping this litter! And of course our daughter Elin, my right hand in this crazy business of dog breeding, and my husband Brennan for his constant support! If you are on our wait list for this litter, please be patient as we recover from lack of sleep and make sure all puppies continue to thrive. We will be sending out emails by the end of this week.

Sybil, who has always been one of our slimmer dogs, is finally showing her baby bump! Less than 4 weeks, and we should have puppies!
Confirmed! Due Date: Sept 6, 2020 We are super excited to announce that: "Sybil" - Whispering Palm's Legacy Ride is pregnant by Legacy Creek's very first Champion bred right here, "Harper" - CH Legacy Creek's Smoky Quartz. We confirmed by ultrasound yesterday, and if all goes well with the rest of the pregnancy and whelping, we are expecting a fair sized litter! Super excited for this first, second generation litter of Legacy Creek pups! If you already have an approved or in process application with us, you will be hearing from us in the next couple of days by e-mail. If you are interested in a puppy, while we do not yet know for sure how many we will have from this litter, it is likely that they are all spoken for. That said, we also took Phoenix in for a pre-breeding check up, and that along with her OFA prelims, gives her the thumbs up for breeding! We are expecting her to come into season sometime near the end of August. We are accepting applications.
Congratulations to Jessica Coatney & Gulliver, Legacy Creek’s Work Horse, on earning their Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog Novice titles tonight! Gully is from our Zuko x Pearl litter, and now adds the letters CGC & TKN to his Dock Diving titles! So much fun to see the canine-human partnership develop and blossom in our pups!
First we want to thank all of you for your patience on an update to our breeding program. Like probably most of you, we started 2020 out with high hopes for the year ahead, especially with the early show results for Phoenix & Zeus, the OFA clearances of Boozer & Harper, and breeding plans for the summer. SarsCoV-19, or COVID-19, has thrown a monkey wrench in it for all of us. Dog shows have stopped, school became home school, people have struggled with financial and health security. Brennan had to postpone wrapping up his dissertation this spring to home school our three children, ages 15, 13, & 9. As a critical care RN, I (Kiki) was called to work the front lines on a COVID ICU in California from March through May. I then transitioned into my new role as a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner at a hospital in San Francisco. We still maintain our home, family, & dogs in Colorado, where my husband has been "holding down the fort" so to speak, and I travel back and forth as conditions and safety allow.
Despite all of this upheaval, we have decided to move forward with our breeding plans for this summer, and have obtained preliminary OFA clearances on both Sybil and Phoenix for this purpose. Despite my travel, our whole family is invested in our breeding program, and with their assistance, we will be continuing to implement Puppy Culture in the raising of our litters. Visits to our home will be a bit more limited, and we will require face masks of everyone coming to our home. Given the recent spike in cases nationally, we will likely be implementing Zoom/FaceTime interviews for the time being. For those who are local to us in the Denver metro area, we are happy to arrange an outdoor opportunity for you to meet us and some of our dogs so that we can maintain social distancing and avoid high risk indoor environments. We appreciate your understanding with these requirements, and we will try to update our blog with any relevant changes. We look forward to speaking with you regarding future puppies. We are hopefully expecting litters in early fall, with puppies ready for homes in late fall.
