First we want to thank all of you for your patience on an update to our breeding program. Like probably most of you, we started 2020 out with high hopes for the year ahead, especially with the early show results for Phoenix & Zeus, the OFA clearances of Boozer & Harper, and breeding plans for the summer. SarsCoV-19, or COVID-19, has thrown a monkey wrench in it for all of us. Dog shows have stopped, school became home school, people have struggled with financial and health security. Brennan had to postpone wrapping up his dissertation this spring to home school our three children, ages 15, 13, & 9. As a critical care RN, I (Kiki) was called to work the front lines on a COVID ICU in California from March through May. I then transitioned into my new role as a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner at a hospital in San Francisco. We still maintain our home, family, & dogs in Colorado, where my husband has been "holding down the fort" so to speak, and I travel back and forth as conditions and safety allow.
Despite all of this upheaval, we have decided to move forward with our breeding plans for this summer, and have obtained preliminary OFA clearances on both Sybil and Phoenix for this purpose. Despite my travel, our whole family is invested in our breeding program, and with their assistance, we will be continuing to implement Puppy Culture in the raising of our litters. Visits to our home will be a bit more limited, and we will require face masks of everyone coming to our home. Given the recent spike in cases nationally, we will likely be implementing Zoom/FaceTime interviews for the time being. For those who are local to us in the Denver metro area, we are happy to arrange an outdoor opportunity for you to meet us and some of our dogs so that we can maintain social distancing and avoid high risk indoor environments. We appreciate your understanding with these requirements, and we will try to update our blog with any relevant changes. We look forward to speaking with you regarding future puppies. We are hopefully expecting litters in early fall, with puppies ready for homes in late fall.
